RWA Team 2009

On the 29th of March, residents of C-1 Vasant Kunj, held elections to usher in a new team to manage the affairs of Residents Welfare Association. The elections were conducted peacefully as is the usual practice in the colony. The turnout was much more than expected. Many members who are usually dormant, turned up to vote. The results were declared at around 13:00 hours, the same day. Almost, entirely a new team had been voted in, to carry out tasks towards the welfare of the residents.

On 5th of April, a function was organized by the new team. The agenda was to felicitate the Electoral Officers, Past Presidents and to take Oath in respect to the responsibilities undertaken by the new team. The residents gathered in large numbers to witness the same. After the said business, a bhajan sandhya was performed by artists invited for the occasion, which was enjoyed by all. Dinner was also organized for the attending residents.

Felicitating The Electoral Officers

The election officers team led by Mr. Anil Sood had quite a task ahead of them. Out of over 700 flats, they had to segregate the eligible voters. They had to identify each eligible voter and record the votes cast. Then, all the votes needed to be very carefully scrutinized and counted, and that too in a very short time. It was an uphill task while it lasted.

Each team member whether nominated or elected were summoned, congratulated and requested to take the stage. Once, the entire team was so presented, they were called on to take the Oath. To solemnly pledge that they would with utmost sincerity, without discrimination or diffidence undertake the responsibilities entrusted to them.

C-1, RWA Past Presidents

Every since the Residents Welfare Association was formed (1990), there have been many who were elected President. Most were worthy of the trust reposed in them by the residents. This was an occasion to felicitate each for the selfless service rendered.

The RWA Team taking Oath

This was the first time the oath was taken in public. All member residents were invited to the function. The gathering was not only regarding felicitations and oath, but was more of a community get together where people had the opportunity to interact with each other, enjoy some music and have dinner. It was more an effort to bring neighbors together for an evening, which is rather difficult due to paucity of time. Work, family engagements & duties being the usual restraints.
